From Power Instability to Energy Self-Sufficiency for TMB Golf Mall
In response to prolonged outages on the SNEL grid, GoShop Energy deployed and implemented a sustainable energy self-sufficiency solution, including a 30 kVA storage system and a 16.74 kWp solar installation. This ensures the continuity of banking operations and protects the branch’s critical systems in Lubumbashi.

In Lubumbashi, the Trust Merchant Bank (TMB) Golf Mall branch faced a reality all too familiar in several provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo: an unstable power supply from the Société Nationale d’Électricité (SNEL) grid, marked by unpredictable and sometimes prolonged outages that could last for several consecutive weeks.
For a banking institution, this instability is not merely a technical inconvenience. It directly impacts operational continuity, the availability of IT systems, the quality of customer service, and the branch’s overall performance.
In an environment where energy reliability is essential to the functioning of financial services, it became necessary to transform this energy vulnerability into a sustainable solution that guarantees business continuity.
A Reliable, Customized Energy Solution
Through close technical collaboration between TMB and GoShop Energy, a comprehensive and sustainable energy solution has been designed to ensure the agency’s energy independence and reliability.
The installed infrastructure incorporates high-performance equipment renowned for its reliability:
- A 30 kVA energy storage system, ensuring power supply to critical loads in the event of low solar production or a grid outage,
- A 16.74 kWp solar array, sized to efficiently harness the region’s solar potential,
- A Victron Energy 48V / 15,000 VA / 200 A inverter, known for its robustness and performance in demanding environments,
The system has been configured for smart energy management, allowing for the prioritization of solar production, optimization of battery storage, and the guarantee of a stable and continuous power supply for all of the agency’s equipment.
This project demonstrates that by harnessing local solar potential and integrating high-performance storage systems, it is possible to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply for strategic infrastructure.
Solar energy thus becomes a key driver of resilience, continuity, and operational performance.
