North Kivu: GoShop Deploys BYD and PCS BESS Systems at the Heart of the NURU Solar Power Plant
GoShop Energy is providing NURU with a 4.6 MWh BYD battery storage system and a 2 MW PCS at the heart of its solar power plant in North Kivu to enhance the stability and continuity of the electricity supply for its customers.

There’s one reality that’s often overlooked when discussing solar energy or, if you will, an electrification project: generating electricity is one thing, but ensuring its availability at the right time is quite another.
In North Kivu, electricity has long been an unreliable resource. For thousands of residents, shopkeepers, and entrepreneurs in Goma, every day begins with the same anxious question: Will there be power today? Will we have to endure another power outage? Will the power be stable enough to run my equipment? Will I be able to keep my drinks cold and serve a customer who asks, “Could I have some fresh juice, please?”
In a region with immense economic potential, relying on an unstable grid means living with the daily uncertainty of power outages. Intermittent electricity is not only a nuisance come evening but also a slow poison for both economic and social development.
he Core Technology Powering NURU’s Solar Power Plant
To turn this challenge into a driver of growth, GoShop Energy designed and deployed a storage and conversion infrastructure for NURU during the deployment of its second solar power plant in Goma. The goal was to generate electricity and make it available 24 hours a day with impeccable stability a feat that required a state of the art technological architecture within the framework of this partnership.
The deployed system is based on three major components:
- The 4.6 MWh BESS (Battery Energy Storage System): This large-scale storage system ensures load leveling and solar power generation for complete continuity of daily power distribution,
- The 2 MW PCS (Power Conversion System): an intelligent bidirectional converter that converts energy (DC/AC), manages power flows, and stabilizes the grid in real time in response to load variations,
- The EMS (Energy Management System): The power plant’s intelligent “brain,” which monitors, controls, and optimizes energy flows in real time between photovoltaic generation, the BESS storage system, and the PCS converter, thereby ensuring the system’s overall efficiency, distribution stability, and maximized battery lifespan.
It is this intelligent design that gives the infrastructure its coherence.
A Partnership Forged to Benefit Communities
This synergy between Nuru’s vision and GoShop Energy’s proven track record GoShop Energy has long applied its expertise to tangible projects by combining cutting edge technologies, innovation, and hands on technical support opens the door to an era of energy independence and sustainable reliability in North Kivu. It relies on the supply of high-quality equipment from global leaders such as BYD and NR, for which GoShop Energy is the official representative in the DRC. For GoShop Energy, this project illustrates the synergy between technological innovation, technical expertise, and collaboration among stakeholders committed to developing energy solutions in remote areas.
