Access to a stable energy supply is a key pillar of any modern development, yet many regions remain in the dark. In Kakanda, a newly built elementary school faced the challenge of having no connection to the public power grid, which could hinder the smooth operation of educational activities. Located in Lualaba Province, outside of service areas, this school is the result of an initiative by Boss Mining (a subsidiary of ERG AFRICA).
Without electricity, it is impossible to power modern educational tools or ensure a functional administrative environment. Furthermore, the lack of a power source for pumping water would compromise the children’s hygiene and health. This energy insecurity would jeopardize the long-term viability of this educational project.
The Goshop Energy Solution
In response to a request from Boss Mining (a subsidiary of ERG AFRICA), we deployed a solar solution tailored to the facility’s needs, configured with the following components:
Generation:
8 high-performance 620 W solar panels for optimal energy capture,
Smart Management:
1 5 kVA inverter-charger paired with a 250/100 MPPT controller for smart energy management,
Storage:
2 GoPower lithium batteries, each with a capacity of 5 kWh, offering exceptional energy density and service life,
Drinking water:
A dedicated system for a Lorentz submersible pump, ensuring a constant water supply
What Has Changed Since the Installation Was Put in Place
Permanent access to electricity and drinking water powered by solar energy has transformed daily life at the facility, providing an environment conducive to the students’ development. In addition, the installation of a Lorentz submersible pump ensures vital access to drinking water for the entire school and the surrounding areas.
This project demonstrates that with the right energy solutions, the lack of a public grid is no longer a barrier to development.
