We didn’t wait for conditions to be easy before we started building. We’ve learned to serve where energy is scarce, where every installation counts, and where trust is earned on the ground.
It is this story that gives GoShop Energy its soul: a company born in Goma, shaped by the realities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and focused on solutions built to last.
In the early 1980s, the story begins in Goma with Trameco, founded by Dominique Otjacques. In the workshop, they overhaul fuel injection pumps, listen to the engines, and repair what others would have given up on. It is a school of patience, precision, and responsibility.
In eastern Congo, equipment isn’t just sold—it has to keep working despite rough roads, isolation, power outages, and emergencies. This technical culture would become the heart of GoShop: understanding the field, respecting the customer, and ensuring solutions last.
Bouncing Back and Moving Forward
Staying in Goma When Everything Pushes you to leave.
The 1990s and 2000s left a deep mark on eastern DRC. Successive wars, displacement, insecurity, and supply disruptions weakened families, businesses, and institutions. Then the eruption of Nyiragongo struck Goma, forcing an entire city to rebuild.It was against this backdrop that the business evolved around Trameco and later GoShop. The choice was a deliberate one: to stay close to customers, rebuild with local teams, and meet the concrete needs of the Congolese market. Resilience isn’t just a slogan; it’s a way of working every day.
