Every year in the Democratic Republic of Congo, more than 30% of electrical installations are damaged by lightning. According to a study by the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers, more than 32% of damage recorded on photovoltaic systems worldwide is caused by lightning.

Furthermore, these impacts are particularly severe in the DRC: millions of dollars in material losses, but above all interruptions to vital services such as medical care, industrial production, mining activities, and drinking water supply.

In a country where access to stable electricity remains a daily challenge, this climate threat jeopardizes sustainable electrification efforts, particularly in off-grid areas. Solar systems, designed to offer autonomy and resilience, become vulnerable themselves without adequate protection.

Aware of this vital issue, GoShop Energy has partnered with INDELEC, a leader in lightning protection (PREVECTRON lightning rods, surge protectors, etc.). Together, we offer a comprehensive and robust solution:

  • GoShop Hybrid Solar Systems: Mini-grids, home kits, and industrial installations for clean, autonomous energy production.
  • Certified INDELEC Protection: A customized, certified layer of security, guaranteeing the durability and reliability of installations even in the most hazardous environments.

In Walikale, the MSF Holland base now has a reliable and secure solar installation, with the addition of 36 panels, 4 batteries (40 KWH), a 15 KVA converter, and INDELEC lightning arresters at the 3 sites, care continues without interruption, even in the middle of the rainy season. With this combined approach, our customers benefit from:

  • Secure Solar Energy: Drastic reduction in outages and service interruptions due to lightning strikes.
  • Resilient Infrastructure: Systems designed to last, even in the most extreme weather conditions in the DRC.
  • Enhanced Autonomy: Critical services (hospitals, mines, schools) remain powered, ensuring continuity of production and operations.

In short, energy is no longer an uncertain variable: it is becoming stable, secure, and sustainable.
