Virunga Énergies: Guaranteed connectivity 24 hours a day with a 5 KVA solar backup system

For Virunga Énergies, one of whose sites is considered an administrative office, located in Kihisi, in the territory of Nyiragongo (Munigi group, North Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo), continuity of service is essential. Despite this necessity, the local power grid, like many regions in the DRC, is frequently affected by

• frequent load shedding, 
• voltage drops, 
• and sudden power outages.  

These frequent interruptions not only compromised the power supply to the three telecom control racks (Wi-Fi) operating 24 hours a day, but also jeopardized the work of certain  internal departments at Virunga Énergies.  Even a brief outage threatened the stability of operations and the connectivity essential to the proper functioning of the site.

To remedy this, GoShop Énergie designed and installed a high-performance solar backup system capable of guaranteeing complete energy autonomy, even in the event of a network outage

• One Victron EasySolar II GX – 5 kVA converter-charger: A device that integrates a 5 kVA converter, a powerful charger, and a 250/250 Wp MPPT regulator
• One Victron EasySolar II GX – 5 kVA converter-charger: A device that integrates a 5 kVA converter, a powerful charger, and a 250/100 MPPT regulator.
• One Cerbo GX, the intelligent heart of the system, enabling seamless real-time energy monitoring and management.
• Four GoPower lithium batteries with 20 kWh (400 Ah) of stable and secure autonomy to power critical equipment without interruption.
• Safety and automation: ATS 100A: automatic network switch, converter, with no noticeable interruption, AC Box and DC Box: complete electrical protection, Switch Battery: easy battery isolation for maintenance.

Since GoShop Énergie installed the solar backup system, our telecom equipment has not experienced any interruptions, even during power outages. The switchover is automatic, the power supply remains stable, and our IT department monitors everything in real time,” says Fabrice Sasengwa, site manager at Virunga Énergies.
