Wamaza: Light is reborn through solar energy
Discover the inspiring story of Wamaza (DRC), where GoShop Energy deployed and installed an autonomous solar system (5 KVA, 7200 Wp, 15 kWh) to power a parish, its clinic, and its maternity ward.
In just one month, energy independence transformed local life, guaranteeing healthcare, education, and dignity for future generations.

In Wamaza, in the province of Maniema in the Kabambare territory of the DRC, daily life was overshadowed by a lack of electricity.
The parish of Kasongo, with its church, clinic, and convents, struggled against the darkness. Nighttime care was provided by the flickering light of torches, and evening prayers were often interrupted. The lack of electrical outlets hindered the proper functioning of medical and educational equipment and essential digital tools.
In this place of faith, hospitality, and care, living conditions seemed stuck in the past. Yet it is here that lives are saved, children are born, the sick are cared for, and communities come together.
Imagine a woman giving birth without adequate lighting, a priest celebrating a shortened mass. A parish building vibrant with life during the day comes to a standstill at night, all because of a lack of energy. Indeed, the challenge of access to electricity is not just a technical issue: it is a human issue. It hinders education, health, social ties, and faith. This lack of energy infrastructure is an invisible barrier, particularly in rural areas such as Wamaza, which are often overlooked in electrification plans.
In response to this emergency, a concrete solution has emerged thanks to GoShop Energy. From May 7 to June 6, 2025, an autonomous and sustainable solar system was installed with passion and precision:
- Conversion power of 5 KVA
- Solar field of 7200 Wp
- 15 kWh LV Flex lithium batteries
- Installation of 50 LED lamps and 30 electrical outlets
- Power supply to all key parish buildings
In just one month, the parish of Wamaza has made the leap from darkness to light. The church, maternity ward, dispensary, large hall, and priests' and nuns' convents are now energy self-sufficient. Testimony from a priest adds Abbé IDI (pending). This initiative goes far beyond a simple technical installation. It is an act of dignity, a choice of hope, proof that local development is possible, even in the most isolated corners of the Congo. In addition, GoShop Energy is actively committed to training local technicians, thus ensuring the maintenance and sustainability of the system. This ensures that the light of Wamaza will continue to illuminate lives for generations to come.
The story of Wamaza is a reminder that access to clean, sustainable energy is not only a fundamental right, but also a necessary lever for development.
Together, we have the power to transform the daily lives of other communities that aspire to a better future.
