Still in progress
The security situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, marked by M23 control, has led to logistical delays in the delivery of certain equipment for Kibali's Durba energy project. This instability affected key areas such as Goma and Bukavu/Kabare, leading to temporary blockages of essential parts.
Despite this, the project to install a 2 MWp solar field at Kibali/Durba in the Upper Uele has been significantly updated towards energy self-sufficiency, with 100% of the solar panels installed and 40% of the electrical connections completed, with particular attention paid to the safety of the installations via an improved earthing system. Indeed, most of the equipment (panels, batteries, converters, generators, etc.) is already on site, guaranteeing smooth continuity of the work.
Measures were also taken to ensure not only the continuity of the work, but also the electrical safety of the system. An equipotential bonding conductor was installed, ensuring that all metal structures were at the same potential. Grounding resistance measurements revealed a value of 25 ohms at the solar field level, while a slightly lower value was recorded in the power zone. Improvements are underway to achieve a resistance of less than 10 ohms, in line with international safety standards.

Daily monitoring is carried out to ensure the quality of connections and strict compliance with electrical safety standards. GoShop Energy remains determined to bring this project to fruition, despite the challenges encountered, in order to provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy for the community of Durba.
