Darkness and isolation in the towns of Lubefu and Tshumbe

Imagine villages where darkness reigns, where the inhabitants are deprived of electricity and cut off from the modern world. This is the reality in the towns of Lubefu and Tshumbe, located in the province of Sankuru. The absence of electricity has plunged these communities into isolation, limiting their access to modern technologies and hampering their development in essential sectors such as education, the economy and social life. Without electricity, it's hard to imagine a better future. Children can't study at night, businesses can't grow, and public institutions struggle to function.

The impact of energy shortages on daily life

This situation of darkness and stagnation has devastating effects. The inhabitants of Lubefu and Tshumbe, not even familiar with the use of electrical appliances, find themselves trapped in a vicious circle. The absence of light hampers their daily activities, from the simple running of their homes to the ability to work or do business. What's more, without reliable access to energy, local businesses are paralyzed, and employment and development opportunities are virtually non-existent. This lack of energy infrastructure prevents communities from integrating into the digital world.

Electrification as a lever for development and hope

Electrification, a vector of hope and sustainable transformation, is becoming a lever of development for isolated communities. The project launched by Go Shop, in partnership with ANSER, embodies this promise of change. Since September 22, 2023, the construction of the two 200 kWp photovoltaic power plants in Lubefu and Tshumbe marks an important step towards a bright, self-sufficient future for these territories. This project is more than just the introduction of an energy source; it is part of a holistic vision of sustainable development. By electrifying 800 households and installing 100 solar-powered streetlamps, the aim is to give local residents the tools for progress and modernity, while preserving the environment thanks to clean, renewable solar energy. The 445 high-performance solar panels and Huawei LUNA 2000 storage system guarantee a constant supply of power. This energy reliability offers the population a stability that promotes the growth of local businesses, the education of young people and daily improvement.

In addition, the integration of a back-up diesel generator ensures greater security, highlighting the importance of energy as a catalyst for resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges. The impact of this project extends beyond electrification: it paves the way for a new era of development for these communities, enabling access to better living conditions, greater autonomy and a promising future.  By bringing light and solar power to these remote areas, Go Shop not only connects these communities to the power grid, but opens up a world of possibilities.

This ambitious project aims to stimulate the local economy, create jobs and improve the quality of life of local residents. The electrification of Lubefu and Tshumbe marks the beginning of a new era. An era in which energy is no longer a luxury, but a catalyst for progress and hope for these long-isolated communities. But this change cannot happen without everyone's involvement. Now is the time to support this transformative initiative.

Join us in this mission, and together, let's help illuminate a future.
