The territory of Mweka, located in the province of Tshikapa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has long been the victim of a serious energy crisis. Some areas of the region, still without electricity, have seen their inhabitants live in darkness, limiting their economic opportunities and hampering their development. However, a major turning point is on the horizon with the launch of a photovoltaic solar power plant project by ANSER, in collaboration with Go Shop. This ambitious project, due to start up in March 2024, offers real hope for the local community.
The solar power plant, with a capacity of 200 KWC, will provide clean, sustainable energy for 400 households: 350 single-phase and 50 three-phase. For the first time, these families will have access to electricity, an essential resource that will transform their daily lives. This project is not simply a response to an energy need, but a real catalyst for change in Mweka.

The project is based on state-of-the-art technical specifications: 444 450 W solar panels, a 200 kWh storage system using 40 BYD 5 kWh batteries, and Fronius PV inverters each rated at 27 KW. A 110 kVA TEKSAN standby generator and a 180 kVA Victron inverter were integrated to ensure a reliable power supply. This infrastructure, designed to last, offers the region a reliable energy solution to the challenges of isolation.
The impact of this project is promising: access to electricity will not only boost education, by facilitating access to information, but also the local economy, by opening up new opportunities for small businesses and potentially attracting new investment. The centralization of solar energy in Mweka represents much more than just a technical improvement: it opens up prospects for sustainable growth, bringing new light to this region, both literally and figuratively.
This project is a perfect illustration of GoShop and ANSER's commitment to providing innovative energy solutions to the most remote communities. It is a crucial step towards lifting Mweka out of obscurity and giving it the means for a prosperous future.
