In a children's home such as Maison Kwetu, located in the province of Lualaba in Kolwezi, every detail is important to ensure that orphaned and vulnerable children have a safe and stable environment. Unfortunately, the lack of electricity has long cast a shadow over this space. With an unstable electrical grid (SNEL), the home suffered from frequent power outages, depriving the children of light, safety, and essential living conditions. It is unacceptable that a place meant to be a haven of peace should be affected in this way.
Meals eaten in the dark, homework left unfinished, nights marked by the anxiety of fearing ghosts. Educators strive to compensate for these shortcomings, but the lack of electricity would make their task considerably more difficult. Beyond the material inconveniences, it was the children's morale and the quality of the support they received that suffered. If this energy insecurity continued, it would threaten not only the mental and physical well-being of the children, but also the very essence of Kwetu House's mission. It is imperative to take action to ensure an environment conducive to their development.
With the support of Give Power and the expertise of GoShop Energy, Maison Kwetu now has access to an innovative and sustainable solar system. In a record time of six weeks, a high-quality installation was completed, comprising:
- 15 solar panels (47.25 kWp) for optimal production
- 6 Quattro inverters (60 kVA) guaranteeing unrivalled performance
- 1 Fronius Eco 27 inverter (27 kW) for increased efficiency
- 15 BYD batteries (75 kWh of storage) ensuring reliable energy autonomy
Maison Kwetu is now self-sufficient and has disconnected from SNEL. The children benefit from continuous, clean, and sustainable energy. No more power cuts, just stability.
Previously, our daily lives were overshadowed by electricity problems. The children often found themselves plunged into darkness, which was detrimental to their well-being and development. However, since GoShop installed the solar cabin, everything has changed. Light has returned to our lives, bringing stability and serenity. The children can now study, wash, and grow up in a safe environment. It's a real relief for our center." This initiative shows that clean, reliable energy has the power to transform lives. GoShop and Give Power didn't just install a solar system; they gave the children of Kolwezi much more than light: they gave them hope, dignity, and the promise of a life worth living
Together, we can illuminate even more lives. Join us in supporting other similar initiatives and building a sustainable and enlightened future for all!
