The DRC, untapped energy potential

Endowed with colossal energy potential, the Democratic Republic of Congo has long seen its natural resources remain largely untapped, particularly in rural areas. While large-scale projects since the dawn of time have been aimed solely at powering major industries, leaving aside the basic electricity needs of millions of Congolese. It is against this backdrop that the SAFRICAS project was born, and it stands out with the expertise of Go Shop, proposing an innovative and sustainable solution: to supply solar energy to isolated communities, starting with health establishments, administrations and schools in four provinces: Maniema, Tanganyika, Sud-Kivu and Tshopo.

Tailor-made solar kits for specific needs

SAFRICAS is the acronym of an ambitious project to supply solar kits tailored to the specific needs of three types of infrastructure essential to local communities: health centers, administrative buildings and elementary school. These facilities, often located in remote areas with difficult access to electricity, will now be able to benefit from clean, reliable energy. 207 solar kits for three structures in particular

  • the health center, with a 4 kWp capacity, 15 kWh storage capacity and 6 KVA operating power,
  • the administrative buildings, with an estimated solar output of 5.4 kWp, a 15 kWh storage system and 5 KVA power.
  • Schools, on the other hand, will have a 2.7 kWp constitution, a 5 kWh storage system and 3 KVA operating power, distributed according to the provinces targeted by the latter, areas where solar energies remain a challenge to be met.

No more need for kerosene lamps to do homework, no more need to work during the day in fear of power cuts, and no more need to develop economic activities.

The SAFRICAS project, which is constantly evolving, continues to electrify rural areas in the DRC and improve the daily lives of thousands of people. Thanks to solar energy, health centers will be able to offer quality health care 24 hours a day, schoolchildren will be able to study late into the night, improving their academic results, and public enterprises will be able to develop their activities without power interruption, paving the way for the development of new opportunities and social benefits. The next stages of the project aim to extend geographical coverage as planned, developing new applications of solar energy for the benefit of all.

GoShop Energy is proud to support this project, which embodies our commitment and mission to a greener, more sustainable future. Together, we're building a bright, prosperous and resilient DRC.
