Every dawn in Kilomission, Kilo State, Kobu, and Walu in the Bunia region, the same exhausting ritual was repeated: women and children walking miles under the scorching sun, empty cans in hand, in search of water that was scarce yet essential for many. In these areas, fetching water was a daily struggle, a constant threat, and yet the sky offered untapped energy: the sun.

To meet this vital need, GoShop Energy, in partnership with the ICRC, deployed four robust and autonomous solar pumping systems. A sustainable solution for areas where the need was urgent. Each pump, designed to last more than 15 years (depending on conditions of use and maintenance), guarantees reliable access to drinking water for thousands of households.

Technical details:

  • GoSolar 620W solar panels (48.5V, 16.15A, dimensions 2.40m x 1.14m)
  •  Lorentz surface pump, power 5.5 kW, flow rate 17 m³/h
  •  Lorentz PSK3-7 controller (acts as a regulator)
  •  Protections: PV Disconnect 1000-50-5, PV Protect 1000-125
  •  Lorentz Surge Protect 2
  • Sensors: Well Probe Sensor V2, Liquid Pressure Sensor LPS-2000
  •  Float switch with 2m cable

Each component of the installed equipment was carefully selected to address the problem of water scarcity in the sites targeted by this pump installation project.

It's a real relief to have access to clean, stable water because I can easily draw between 5 and 10 cans a day for my whole family. Before, I used to spend hours looking for water, and it was an exhausting task. says Sylvie, a resident of Kilomilion.

For families in the communities of Kilomilion, Kilo State, Kobu, and Walu, access to clean, stable, and readily available water is a real relief.

Together with the ICRC, GoShop Energy is demonstrating that local, technical, and renewable solutions can transform access to water, even in the most complex areas. Water is life. Solar energy is the future.
