About Tchegera Island:

Situated off the northern shore of L. Kivu, Tchegera camp offers spectacular views of the lake and four volcanoes. On clear nights, Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes add to the drama by turning the night sky red with their glowing lava. There is also an abundance of birdlife on the island, including African eagles, cormorants, herons and gulls. Whether one chooses to relax on the beach or explore other parts of the island in a sea kayak or by paddle board, Tchegera is the perfect place for rest and relaxation. To make this system work perfectly the GoShop team installed all high demanding appliances by low consumptions or solar appliances. (A+++ fridges and freezers, LEDs and solar water heater)

This system provides a neat, practical and sustainable alternative to traditional diesel power for remote locations or locations where the grid is unstable.

The site doesn't have to run on diesel fuel, saving thousands of US dollar in fuel and transportation costs every year. This shows that stand alone solar system can be the most efficient solution.
