Despite their important role in managing natural resources and promoting sustainable development, women are still largely under-represented in the energy sector, and particularly in the energy transition. This inequality prevents the emergence of solutions that are truly inclusive and impactful for the future.

This lack of female representation in the field not only hinders innovation, but also limits the potential of the energy transition. As key players in social and environmental change, women have a role to play in designing more diverse and effective solutions. The energy sector needs this new energy and a different perspective to meet global challenges.

A recent World Bank study, Toward More and Better Jobs for Women in Energy, shows that in many MENA countries, women represent less than 5% of the workforce in the energy sector, and an average of 10% in technical or management positions.

In Tunisia, where 27% of the working population is female (according to the 2014 Labor Market Panel Survey), an analysis shows that all of them occupy mainly administrative positions or low-skilled jobs. This situation can be explained by a number of factors: restrictive social norms, legal obstacles that reinforce gender stereotypes, and occupational segregation.  Even in the renewable energies sector, where we might expect greater female representation, the difference is negligible. In Jordan and Egypt, for example, the presence of women in renewable energies is only 1% higher than in the overall energy sector.https://blogs.worldbank.org/fr/arabvoices/getting-more-women-energy-sector-renewed-approach-mena

Women, talents, backgrounds

Damaris, a seasoned telecoms and IT engineer with 5 years' experience, is an example of the excellence and dedication of women in the renewable energy field. At GoShop, she uses her , technical expertise to support each project and ensure that everything runs smoothly and delivers results in real time, demonstrating the role that women play in the energy transition. Her passion for technology, innovation and the environment reinforces and inspires GoShop's vision.

As for Christelle, she's a dedicated engineer and technician at GoShop, an expert in solar panel installation. Her know-how and professionalism are essential to the implementation of our sustainable energy solutions. Thanks to her commitment, many homes and businesses now benefit from clean, reliable energy.

She embodies practicality and efficiency, making a real difference to every solar installation project.

Why is diversity essential?

Diversity, whether in terms of gender or culture, is a driving force for innovation. Indeed, bringing together people with different experiences and points of view enables us to find more creative and effective solutions to today's energy problems. What's more, an inclusive company is a successful one.

GoShop Energy: an agent of change in the service of equality

We believe that the energy transition must be inclusive and accessible to all, regardless of gender. That's why we place particular emphasis on involving women in the renewable energy sector, opening doors to promising careers and shaping a more equitable and sustainable energy transition.

As a company, we actively encourage the participation of women in all aspects of our business, whether as technicians, engineers, project managers or in our management teams. By giving them the necessary tools and opportunities, we have seen how their expertise, creativity and determination bring a new dimension to energy transformation.

GoShop's action is in line with several of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promotes the inclusion of women in the energy transition:

SDG 5 - Gender Equality : GoShop is committed to reducing gender inequalities by promoting women's access to the energy professions and offering them equal opportunities to progress in this sector.

ODD 7 - Clean and affordable energy: As a major player in the field of solar energy, GoShop promotes access to renewable, clean and affordable energy for all, while including women in this transition.

ODD 13 - Fight against climate change: The energy transition and the inclusion of women in this process are essential to achieving the global objectives of reducing emissions and combating global warming.

Putting women at the heart of the energy transition is not only a moral necessity, but also a strategic lever for a more promising future. By integrating more women into the energy sectors, particularly renewable energies, we can encourage innovation, equality and sustainable development that will benefit us all.

Furthermore, women have a fundamental role to play in the energy transition, and their inclusion in this process is essential to ensure innovative and sustainable solutions. GoShop Energy demonstrates that by supporting women, offering them training and opportunities in the energy sector, we can not only create jobs but also ensure a more equitable and resilient energy future.

Support the inclusion of women in the energy sector and commit to a greener, more equitable future. Together, let's create opportunities and solutions for all.
