Climate change and dependence on fossil fuels are putting some African countries at risk. The depletion of natural resources and growing pollution are urgent issues to be resolved. These global challenges affect our environment and our daily lives. As a result, the energy transition has become an imperative necessity in the face of the world's climate emergency, particularly in Africa, and energy, as a key factor in this transition, is at the heart of current environmental concerns

For example, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), despite its wealth of untapped natural resources, is ranked among the world's poorest countries, with a high unemployment rate, particularly affecting the youngest population. We already know that a large proportion of the population lives in poverty on less than $2.15 a day, but what we don't know is that women are particularly affected by climate change and poverty due to socio-economic and cultural factors. They represent a significant proportion of people living in poverty and of poor households in urban areas. Despite their crucial role in food production, they have limited access to land ownership. The 2022 Bonn Conference on climate change highlighted these inequalities and the essential role of women in the fight against climate change. Their vulnerability is exacerbated by various social factors and the specific roles they assume in society.

Yet there are promising solutions to this situation. Decentralized energies, such as domestic solar power and wind mini-grids, can reduce energy poverty, promote social inclusion and provide an effective response in times of crisis.

The scientific evidence is unequivocal on this subject: to preserve a livable climate, coal, oil and gas production must decline rapidly, and global renewable energy capacity, including wind, solar, hydro and geothermal power, must triple by 2030https://www.un.org/fr/climatechange/cop28 . Fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and gas, are the main contributors to global climate change. They are responsible for over 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions and around 90% of all carbon dioxide emissions, and to avoid the worst consequences of climate change, we need to cut our emissions by almost half by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. :https://www.un.org/fr/climatechange/raising-ambition/renewable-energy

From an environmental, economic and social point of view: renewable energies offer numerous benefits, including improved air quality and public health thanks to reduced air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, they promote job creation and green growth, stimulating the local economy through local energy production and reduced dependence on imports. According to the United Nations, the transition to net zero emissions will  create nine million jobs in the energy sector by 2030, with 14 million new jobs in clean energy.

enewable energies are the key to a sustainable future, where energy independence is a priority. They represent an innovative solution for reconciling technological progress, job creation and environmental protection, while improving energy security and resilience by diversifying sources of electricity supply. Accelerating the transition to clean energy is essential to ensure a healthy, sustainable future for our planet and future generations.

GoShop: creating jobs in the DRC, more than just a supplier of energy solutions

With 168 contract employees, 12 freelancers and 10 professional trainees, GoShop is a major player in job creation and youth training in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In response to the challenges of the local job market, we have created the GoShop Academy. This training program is aimed primarily at young graduates of recognized technical schools, with the aim of developing their potential and offering them rewarding career prospects with a promising future.

In addition, the GoShop Academy, in collaboration with general management and the human resources department, enables our employees to acquire high-level technical and managerial skills. This approach is in line with our vision of an egalitarian world, where everyone has access to sustainable, reliable energy solutions. for more videos https://www.youtube.com/@GoShopEnergy/playlists

Through its various initiatives, it is committed to reducing unemployment in the country. The company offers opportunities for professional integration and career development, in particular by training a team of qualified professionals capable of meeting tomorrow's challenges, ensuring the company's success and guaranteeing a better future for all. This ecological transition is essential, and represents an opportunity to transform our societies and ensure their sustainability.

Investing in renewable energies also helps reduce pollution and its harmful consequences on people's health. Indeed, the combustion of fossil fuels is responsible for numerous respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Opting for clean alternatives means improving quality of life and easing the burden on the healthcare system.

By combating climate change, we can work together to build a sustainable, resilient and equitable future.
